WJM POWDER COATING FINISHING SPECIFICATION
METAL CLEANING
The entire exterior metal shaft shall be cleaned with a high pressure alkaline wash to remove all oils and surface contaminants and rinsed with water.
The surface will then be shot blasted to remove all rust and scale and provide a 1.5 mil anchor pattern to increase coating adhesion in accordance with SSPCS-SP10 coating specification.
PHOSPHATE CONVERSION COATING
The blasted shaft shall be chemically pretreated with a phosphate conversion coating applied at high pressure and forced dried in a convection oven. When dry the entire surface will have a uniform phosphate microcrystalline structure of 25 mg/sq ft.
POWDER COATING
The entire exterior surface shall be powder coated electrostatically with a high density polyester material and cured in a convection oven. The coating provides superior corrosion, impact, chemical and scratch resistance.
INTERNAL COATING
The internal surface shall be powder coated 12 inches from the base section. Upon exiting from the cure oven
the internal portion of the lighting standard shall be additionally coated 5 foot from the base with a high solid thermoplastic resin designed to resist corrosion.
WRAPPING
The entire lighting standard including the base shall be wrapped in a protective material to protect the coating during the shipping and handling process.
